When tourists think of Chinatown, they think of NYC or a small part of China in a city. However in Los Angeles Chinatown to locals is known for a few of LA’s best restaurants. By best I mean, highest reviewed and the tastiest food in the city.
Here are 5 of Chinatown’s must see places.
1. Yang Chow’s – $ / Chinese Food / 819 Broadway, Los Angeles, California
Known for celebrities enjoying authentic Chinese food in the heart of Los Angeles. Yang Chow is the spot to eat when you are craving authentic Chinese food. I even tested it for myself and my boyfriend and I approve! Also, the food is not pricey and almost every plate can be shared (family style).
2. Philippe The Original – $ / Sandwiches / 1001 N Alameda, Los Angeles, California
The sandwiches at Philippe’s are AMAZING! Full of flavor and history. The creation of the famous sandwich began in 1918. It wasn’t until 1951 that the restaurant opened and it is still in the same location today.

3. Howlin’ Ray’s – $$ / Southern Food / 727 N Broadway #128, Los Angeles, California
Known for the hot chicken, Howlin’ Roy’s is thee place to eat in Downtown if you are craving southern food. The hot sauce used on the chicken is OUT OF THIS WORLD. I mean, every restaurant can have southern food, but not all restaurants master the art of fried chicken.

4. Chego – $ Asian Fusion / 727 N Broadway, Los Angeles, California
If you are a lover of pork belly, then Chego will make your mouth burst with flavors. This Asian Fusion restaurant is known for their Chubby Pork Belly. Served with some amazing Ooey Gooey Fries and a Coca Cola and you are set my friend!
I personally do not eat pork, or beef but the Sour Cream Hen House is amazing! Ahhh writing this is one of the most difficult things because remembering how the food tastes makes my mouth water. A MUST-go-to for sure!
5. Pho 87 – $ / Vietnamese / 1019 S Broadway, Los Angeles, California
