I remember when I was 6 years old waking up one morning on a rainy day in Sacramento to my siblings screaming full of excitement. I was so confused and scared as I did not know what the screams were about. I grabbed my robe and slippers and ran out into the living room. I was the last of my 7 siblings to enter the room. To my surprise, my father came home from a business trip in New York. But my father took the trips so often so the exciting screams were fishy.

When I followed everyone to my dad’s car, he grabbed, what seemed like a hundred, bags out of his car trunk that he received from his client. The client was Tommy Hilfiger and we couldn’t have been more excited because in the 90’s everyone and their mom (figurative speech) was wearing Tommy Hilfiger. My oldest sister Alina was the most excited about the clothes because she was a young teenager and it was the coolest brand to wear. All the celebrities were wearing it, especially her favorite band at the time- TLC. But after a few years the demand dropped and the brand began focusing on the European demographic which made the brand slowly fade away from the spotlight.

Now fast forward to 2017, Tommy Hilfiger has made it’s way back in high demand through famous influencer, such as Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Rihanna, and Katy Perry. And the brand is being sold in stores that sell to the younger demographic, such as Urban Outfitters.

I was so close to wearing this 90’s inspiration fashionable outfit to New York Fashion Week in NYC, but I chose to wear it for a quick minute while getting my nails done with my besties. I am obsessed with the logo, not because it is popular, but I couldn’t wear it too long as a child, so I am happy to relive the 90s and rehear this look in my late 20s.
